Living Well with MS

We all feel tired at times. But the fatigue that affects three in four people with MS is chronic, unpredictable and often out of proportion to the task at hand. Overwhelming physical and mental fatigue may interfere with even your simplest daily activities.

If you’re affected by MS-related fatigue, you and those around you need to know that your exhaustion is not due to laziness or self-pity; it is a very real symptom of the disease itself. Although its exact cause is unknown, several factors may explain MS-related fatigue, such as aspects of MS inflammation. It could also be the nerve damage and atrophy that may occur as a result of the disease process.

If fatigue is stealing your quality of life, take control. Knowing what can trigger fatigue in MS, how to recognize it, and ways to manage it can help you improve your ability to function and your quality of life.
